Sony Delivers on the Ultimate Surround Sound Experience

Discover the Latest Technology From Sony Home Audio

Sony Delivers on the Ultimate Surround Sound Experience

Sony, the global leader in consumer electronics, has remained on the cutting edge of audio-video technology since it first stepped up to the plate nearly 80 years ago. So impressed were we with the brand that we started our company, Encore Audio Video, as a Sony retailer over 40 years ago. While we’ve far surpassed our humble beginnings, we remain Sony’s partners, always impressed with their continued advancements and excited to share their latest technology with our clients.

While they have their hands in nearly every aspect of home entertainment, from best-in-class 4K native laser projectors to gaming consoles and their flagship 4K QD-OLED TV, in this blog, we're sharing the newest advancements in Sony home audio. As usual, they're offering technologies that take immersive surround sound to the next level. Let’s explore their latest audio inventions and what they offer homes in Vancouver, OR, and the surrounding areas.

Portable Theater System

In July, Sony came out with their portable home theater system that comes with their well-known 360 Spatial Sound Mapping. This technology transforms stereo into a 3D sound field by creating multiple phantom speakers. The upmixer algorithm separates sound into individual objects and places them in a 3D bubble, providing the immersive listening experience that usually requires a minimum of five speakers.

Wireless Speakers

In May, Sony launched two new wireless speakers, including their powerful SRS-XV800. With five tweeters and omnidirectional sound, it fills a room with little distortion, surprisingly detailed audio, and vocal clarity. Ambient lights in numerous colors sync to the music’s rhythm.

Dolby Atmos Soundbar

In March, they introduced their new Dolby Atmos Soundbar that provides an immersive cinematic surround sound experience. A new mixer supports the 3D sound experience, and the built-in subwoofer offers the deep bass crucial to creating tension and lifelike special effects. You can even experience this three-dimensional sound field when enjoying stereo content.

8K AV Receivers

In February, they came out with the long-anticipated ES 8K AV receiver lineup. These receivers support their 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology and Digital Cinema Auto Calibration IX, providing their most immersive home theater experience. The auto-calibration corrects the distance, angle, and frequency response of each speaker. They also support today’s standard object-based audio formats, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

In the video arena, these receivers support IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Vision, and 8K1, preserving the original picture quality while delivering an ultra-realistic cinematic experience. And gamers will be happy to know that they received updates, resulting in more responsive gameplay and clearer movement.

INZONE for Gamers

And, while we’re on the topic of gamers, we would be remiss not to announce their new INZONE earbuds and headsets that came out in October. Designed for gaming purposes, they include the 360 Spatial Sound technology.
